‘Counting On’ Spoilers tells us to keep in mind that this is not the opinion of a clinical psychologist, simply the observation of one person going off the evidence given in a podcast, so, while this is not an exact recipe for a narcissist by any means, it just seem like this is a pretty good way to get the ball rolling. It seems that Jim Bob Duggar’s ultimate goal was politics and to be involved in them in some way.
Now, that isn’t such a bad ambition, if it’s your own ambition, but when you start grooming your kids for such things, and you start excusing their horrific actions as “tests from God” then there’s a big problem in the making.

After Josh attended what they called his “Christian Therapy”, which included metaphorically removing the sin sludge from his heart by helping his pastor clean out a pond in his back yard for a few months, when he returned allegedly “cured”, the family started treating him like some sort of Second Coming and Jim Bob started grooming him for politics.
Now that he had defeated the “sin” in his heart, it would only be a straight shot into the political arena, right? The “sin in the camp” was gone, and since Josh had been born with the gift of gab he could manage to talk his way into anything, right? Including politics.

Speaking of sinful, sludgy time, apparently according to the youtube channel “I pray youput this journal away” they said that in spite of TLC’s previous claims of not knowing that any of this was going on, that they were filming the first documentary during this time and that when TLC was there filming that they would allow Josh to come home to stay for a little while. Also, during these times, Josh was not allowed to talk to anyone except for when he was on-camera.
According to this podcast, Jim Bob and Michelle did not want to document Josh’s discipline on-camera so they pretended like nothing was wrong while TLC was there. If this was supposed to be a private, family matter, then why not wait to film until Josh’s discipline was finished? But I guess reality TV money talks. Stay tuned!!!
