Amy Duggar seems to have distanced herself from her wider family amid her cousin Josh Duggar’s legal woes in relation to an ongoing charge with child pornography.
‘Counting On’: Amy Duggar Cuts Herself Off From Her ‘Toxic Family’
The whole scandal forced the family to cancel their show Counting On in order to focus on the upcoming trial. And with so many opportunities that are no longer here, Amy is certainly going to leave her mark.
And she made sure that she let everyone know just what she thought of her family. In a post to her fans on Instagram, she did not hold back.
She said: “It’s okay to cut off toxic family for your own well-being. Amen & Amen. It’s not easy, but necessary.” It is not clear what may have caused Amy to behave in this way, but on reflection, it could be due to the following reasons.
First of all, there could be a disagreement over whether the family should stick by Josh. After all, with a legal trial on the way, the evidence continues to mount against him.
While the family’s Christian values suggest that forgiveness is a big part of that, Amy, on the other hand, may not see it that way. Secondly, which is in line with the former point, Amy is known for being a very outspoken member of the family.
This was seen last year when a certain subset of fans accused her of being selfish by not having a huge family in comparison to her other siblings. Amy, for her part, only has one child.
And in response, she made sure that she put that critic in their place once and for all. In reply, she remarked: “I literally had to speak my mind! Children are such a blessing, but I can’t imagine being pregnant again right now. I’d be unmotivated, emotional, stressed out and not in a good headspace, and that’s ok to admit.”
Amy may not be on good terms with her family, but if Josh’s legal trial sees him walking away, then who knows if that would change. We will have to see how this will all play out.
