Coronavirus (Covid-10) Quarantine Update finds that because of millions of people from all over the world are being forced to stay at home to help stop the spread of the coronavirus outbreak, it looks like many people are tuning in to their favorite television programs and of course, daytime soaps. While there’s no doubt that soap fans have always been some of the most loyal and passionate ones in the entertainment industry, it looks like audience numbers are growing as more and more people are tuning in to watch all of the drama go down in Port Charles, Genoa City, Salem, and yes, the fictional town that we know of for the Logan, Spencer and Forrester legacy families.
According to the latest Soaps in Depth, daytime television has become both a new gateway and a ‘mind escape,’ so to speak for many people who need a break from the continuous coverage of the global pandemic. As of press time, there have been over 1.2 million confirmed cases in over 150 countries, with over 252,000 recoveries and 65,711 deaths. That number is expected to rise. In the United States, there have been 311,658 confirmed cases with 8,492 deaths so far.

Thankfully, there are many people across many states who are taking social distancing seriously and are stay at home and keeping busy, whether it’s with work from home, picking up a new hobby, or tuning in to their favorite shows. With so many twists and turns and non-stop drama on The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, this has certainly been one of the best times to tune in to the soap world.
While the world patiently waits for countries to finally flatten the curve, it’s been noted that the soaps from the major networks have enough new episodes to last us through at least the beginning of May. The notable exception, of course, is Days of Our Lives, as the series films six months ahead and has enough material to keep audiences happy until the beginning of October.
