Coronation Street Spoilers: Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) To Come To Devastating Realization!

Coronation Street Spoilers finds that the festive season is right around the corner on the soaps, and for one particular Coronation Street legend, it is going to be a testing couple of weeks.

Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) is going to come to the realisation over the next couple of weeks that she has no friends left on the street, and as a result, she is going to be devastated on Christmas Day.

Coronation Street Spoilers: Rita To Come To Devastating Realisation

The Corrie stalwart is planning on going away for the festive celebrations and spend time in Edinburgh with her friend Emily Bishop (Eileen Derbyshire). However, she is heartbroken when the plans are cancelled at the final minute.

Coronation Street Spoilers: Rita’s Heartbreak On The Cobbles

Rita will remember that she was asked to feed Mrs MacElroy’s cat while her friend was away, but upon remembering that she will be away herself, she will be forced to look for somebody else to help out. The legend’s search for a helper ends in disappointment with no residents on the street able to help her out. Regardless, in the end, the search didn’t matter as Emily would cancel her plans with Rita due to a twisted ankle leaving her bedridden.

In heart-breaking scenes that will air before Christmas Day, Rita will confide in Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) that she doesn’t feel that she has any friends since nobody would help out with the cat. It appears that her feelings have been heightened after the plans that she initially had for Christmas fall flat. It is also little wonder that Rita is feeling lonely considering that many of her old friends from the street such as Norris (Malcolm Hebden) and Emily have moved away. Not just that, but she has also had to watch as Paul (Peter Ash) moved out of her apartment to move in with Billy (Daniel Brocklebank). There are many people that care about Rita on the street, but will Jenny’s reassurance help her see this?

Coronation Street Spoilers: Tough Times For Rita

It has been a tough couple of years for Rita as just two years ago there were fears that she may be leaving the soap for good. Back in 2017, she became forgetful and passed out in her house. Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) came to her rescue and rushed her to the nearest hospital. Viewers were shocked when it was revealed that Rita had a brain tumour. However, Rita was able to overcome the tumour with surgery, and there were cheers from soap fans when it was revealed that the tumour was benign. This new twist will see a new story line for Rita, and one that fans will be hoping that she can overcome.
