ITV ‘Coronation Street’ spoilers finds that EastEnders made the decision last week to suspend filming until further notice, and it was confirmed over the weekend that ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale will also be following suit. The official statement from ITV claimed that the guidance from the government was the reason for the suspension, and they promised to keep fans updated on when filming may resume.

Coronation Street issued a statement of their own, which expressed that the health and welfare of their staff and production teams were the priority. The tours of both Emmerdale and Coronation Street have both been closed for the past seven days.

The soap have already filmed at least six weeks of episodes, which means there may not be any immediate fear that there will be no Coronation Street on our screens. However, bosses at ITV have revealed that Corrie will be on just three times a week.

The soap is typically on six times a week, with double episodes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. However, there will be no double-bills for the foreseeable future, as the soap bosses don’t want to get to a point where there may be no Corrie for weeks.

ITV ‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers: Updates Likely To Be Issued Every Week

ITV rounded off their statement by admitting that they are regularly checking the situation, and admitted that filming would resume as soon as it is safe to do so. It is the same situation with Emmerdale and EastEnders, with the latter of those closing down filming last week. The shutdown in the filming of the soap is a marker of how serious the outbreak of COVID-19 truly is. This is an unprecedented time in the history of the 60-year-old soap, and fans will be hoping that the pause in filming doesn’t last for too long.
