Common and Tiffany Haddish are finally addressing their split which stayed under wraps for several weeks.
The one year relationship between the rapper and the comedienne seemed to be one of the most solid in Hollywood, with the two often gushing over one another in interviews. However, in November, the two went their secret, separate ways, with a source telling PEOPLE magazine they were “too busy for a serious relationship.”

Now Common is speaking out on Fox Soul’s Hollywood Unlocked With Jason Lee Uncensored about the breakup, calling it a “mutual” decision and saying his ex is “one of the best people I’ve met in life.” He continued to gush about the 42 year old popular actress, saying Haddish is “one of the best-hearted and most authentic and caring people that I’ve met in life. That’s what made me love her and be in love with her and want to be in a relationship with her and grow with her.”
So, what went wrong with what Common described as a “heavy and loving,” and “the most mature relationship I have been in:?
The 49 year old ‘I Used To Love HER’ singer explained that it wasn’t the lockdown of the pandemic–which racked up countless relationship breakdowns– that split the pair up, but quite the opposite. Post pandemic, the couple became far too busy to give the relationship the energy and care it required.
“I don’t think the love really dispersed,” the ‘Hip-hop Poet Laureate’ explained. “We weren’t feeding the relationship. Neither one of us is gonna stop. We both care about our crafts and what we do.”
He continued that both decided the split was for the best, with neither of them wanting to be “one foot in, one foot out.”
Haddish first confirmed she and Common were dating in August 2020. Though it only became public in December 2021, the split actually occurred in November.
While it is sad to see this solid duo go their separate ways it is nice to see the love is still there. Who knows, maybe a reconciliation could be on the cards in the future?
