Jussie Smollett has admitted during his trial on Monday that CNN host Don Lemon warned him that Chicago police did not believe his story of being a victim of a racist, homophobic attack. This seems to be a trend for CNN reporters to use their resources and connections to help friends and family.
Lemon, who also happens to be gay, is said to have warned Smollett in 2019 that the police detectives were not convinced by his story that he’d been beaten by two men in MAGA hats. Lemon didn’t mention it on his show last night while talking to reporter Omar Jiminez who had been at the trial.
Jussie Smollett Reveals CNN’s Don Lemon Warned Him By Text That Police Weren’t Believing His Story
This comes less than a week after CNN fired Chris Cuomo, another primetime host, for helping his brother in his sexual assault scandal, getting statements for him using his resources to investigate some of the accusers. While CNN took a while to finally discipline Cuomo, they did eventually fire him, which looks like it could be the case here for Lemon.
This isn’t the only scandal happening for Lemon at the moment either, as he’s also being sued by a Hampton’s bartender who claims he rubbed his own genitals and then shoved his fingers into his face in 2018. The bartender told FOX news that CNN is a network “rife with predators and perverts.”
With Cuomo being made an example of, it certainly looks like Lemon could be heading towards the dog house as well. This would leave CNN with two primetime spots to fill and potentially mean we could get some new anchors that could maybe turn CNN around?
If one thing is for sure, Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo were polarizing figures for the network and with a changing of the guard perhaps CNN could turn its name around.
What do you think? Do you think Lemon will end up being fired over these two scandals and what will he do after? Let us know in the comments below.
