Jussie Smollett is back in Chicago for his trial today! He allegedly staged a hate attack and reported it to the police with a noose around his neck and a Subway sandwich in his hand.  The actor was greeted with a huge crowd of reporters and photographers on his way into the courthouse this morning.

Smollett had 7 family members by his side as he walked in to face charges of felony disorderly conduct. Last year Smollett was indicted on six counts including lying to cops about the incident. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

These six are a far cry from the original 16 that he was slapped with. However, the prosecutor’s office unexpectedly dropped all of them back in March of 2019 for some reason. A special prosecutor then presented the case to a grand jury and the six new charges were brought.

Originally, Smollett said 2 white men had attacked him at 2 in the morning on a cold Chicago night yelling homophobic and racist slurs at him while pouring what he thought was bleach on him. He also famously claimed that they were yelling, “This is MAGA country” at him and left a rope around his neck.

However, the two who attacked him came forward and claimed the whole thing was staged. They were not white and told cops that Jussie had paid them to pull off the fake attack. The brothers are expected to testify in court.

Smollett faces a possible maximum sentence of 3 years in prison if he’s convicted of all six charges.

Meanwhile, he’s been mocked and ridiculed for what he allegedly did, including comedian Dave Chappelle, who roasted him in his 2019 special ‘Sticks and Stones’.

What do you think? Do you suspect Smollett will get all charges or could he get off? Do you really think he was attacked at all? Let us know in the comments below.
