Chris Cuomo isn’t done with CNN yet as his lawyers wrote to CNN that they want the emails and other communication between Jeff Zucker. Allison Gollust, and Andrew Cuomo to show they knew he was helping his brother.
The emails will allegedly show a couple of things such as the comfortable relationship between Zucker and Gollust and Cuomo’s team expects to be able to call into question how he was forced to resign for a conflict of interest when they weren’t.

Another reason for the communications is it’s believed they will show Zucker encouraging Andrew to come onto Cuomo’s show. It’s those same images and interviews that were used to force Cuomo to resign.
This could potentially cost Zucker millions, and there’s been no report on whether or not his relationship with Gollust will hinder a severance package or not as it’s not known if his extension for the merger with Discovery had a severance pay clause in it.
The end result could be of Zucker’s own doing as he reportedly refused to pay out roughly $18 million to Cuomo for his severance pay due to Cuomo’s conduct bringing unwanted negative attention to the network.
Scorched Earth
Brian Stelter recently talked about how Cuomo’s intent could be to tear down CNN as he’s threatened to sue for his severance package previously, and Zucker and Gollust’s relationship, which violated company rules, was reportedly brought up during those negotiations.
Zucker and Gollust’s relationship wasn’t a secret as it was termed an “open secret” by various sources according to dailymail.co.uk.
They reportedly worked together for twenty years at NBC and then the final nine at CNN before Zucker resigned on Wednesday (2/2/22) due to his relationship with Gollust.

It’s believed that their close relationship predates the pandemic, and both have stated it “evolved” during the outbreak.
With CNN looking to get through this, a released internal email stated that Michael Bass, Amy Entelis, and Ken Jautz will serve as interim bosses. Bass will head the new leadership team for the moment.
Bass’ appointment drew criticism as well as sources cited by Daily Mail claim Bass is Zucker’s right-hand man and close friend. They “went to Harvard together and have looked after each other,” according to one source in the above linked Daily Mail article.
This looks like it’s going to be a long fight on both sides and we’ll keep you updated as more news comes out.
