Chris Cuomo has revealed that he spoke to Alec Baldwin and informed him to not address cancel culture publicly.
Chris Cuomo Advised Alec Baldwin To Not Speak About Cancel Culture Publicly
Chris, for his part, was fired by CNN after he had advised his brother Andrew Cuomo on how to approach his sexual misconduct trial which called into question his reporting.
And given that Alec faced calls to be canceled himself in the aftermath of his proper gun incident which led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, Chris felt that he knew a thing or two about this issue.
In an official statement, Chris said: “I know Alec Baldwin, so does Andrew. I have a very good friend who’s named Peter who called me and said, ‘Alec wants to talk about cancel culture, political correctness.
“I asked him not to. I said to tell him [to] stay out of it, it’s not necessary.” Although Chris is very familiar with this, the very fact of the matter is that such a statement is not going to look good for the following reasons.
First of all, simply by associating with Chris, Alec’s public image is not going to be helped in any way. After all, Chris did lose a book deal as well as being fired from CNN as mentioned earlier.
Secondly, by Chris addressing this publicly, it does not seem to have any benefit towards Alec as it suggests that he was simply trying to engage in damage limitation.
And yet, for all the effort that Chris was going through, Alec was hell-bent on doing the opposite. Chris added: “I said, ‘Alright, well, that’s my take on it.
“[I] didn’t think that Alec Baldwin weighing in on this one way or the other was necessarily helpful or respectful to the situation.” Ultimately, the investigation is the only thing that can end up clearing Alec.
Once that has been concluded, then it is only a matter of time before he is accepted back into the public arena. But until that moment, the only thing that he can do is wait patiently. We will have to see how this will all play out.
