Upon watching the D’Amelio Show (apparently these guys have a reality TV show on hulu – who knew?), one has to wonder if the D’Amelio’s aren’t guilty of playing favorites among their daughters, at least a little bit.
We get it, Charli has had trouble with anxiety in the past year and it seems that she has had her fair share of scrutiny on social media and that can be hard on a young girl, but at the same time we can’t help but feel that Dixie is being edged out in favor of her younger sister.
Does the D’Amelio family play favorites?
Dixie D’Amelio is trying to do music, something that up until this year, Charli hasn’t really shown an interest in. Also, the girls have tried to be different from one another and do completely different things in regards to their career. Charli, it seems, fits more into the dancer/influencer portion of tiktok and it would seem that Dixie wants to be in the music industry. A nice, well-rounded family, right?
Well… they’re trying.
But it seems that Charli eventually got interested in music as well, and lied to her sister – as well as had the rest of her family lie to Dixie – about releasing the song!
Poor Dixie, she wasn’t even that mad that Charli wanted to get into music, she was just mad that her family lied about it, which is completely valid, but one thing she said in the series was telling, she said that her family acted like once she found out about the song that she should be so happy for Charli and then offer to put the song on her album as something that they could do together.
A hypothetical situation to which she said an emphatic no. Again, completely valid.
Of course Dixie, being the older, less talked-about sibling, might be expected to suck it up and help out her younger sibling, especially since Charli suffers with anxiety and has, at least in the past, had trouble doing things by herself. But Charli is 18, and Dixie is 20, and both want to be their own individual people. They already don’t live together, so if Mom and Dad D’Amelio were after a family togetherness vibe then that has long flown the coop.
To be honest, Mom and Dad D’Amelio seem kind of uninvolved in their kids lives, but even the most uninvolved parents can sometimes unintentionally pressure their older kids to help out the younger ones, especially if the younger ones are perceived as more vulnerable and that could be the case with Charli and Dixie’s dynamic. We’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
