Molly Shannon has been opening up more about her life in comedy. She recently appeared on the Howard Stern Show and she wanted to promote her new book, a memoir called Hello, Molly! One of the topics of discussion in her book is the time that she had an experience with Gary Coleman. Shannon really opened up about what happened and her fans were shocked to hear it.
Celebs: Shannon’s Allegations
When the harassment happened, Shannon had just signed on with an agent, who was also Coleman’s. She was given the chance to meet him and hang out and she jumped on this opportunity. He was a legend in her eyes, so why not go and hang out?
This ended up being a big mistake for Shannon. She said that she went up to his penthouse hotel room, with their agent, and things just got very weird.
Celebs: Molly Shannon’s Sexual Harassment Allegations
Everyone was talking and getting along really well and then their agent left the room. She claims that sweetly, Coleman told her to sit on the bed next to him, and then he began to tickle her. She was “trying to be polite” and at the time, she was very young and impressionable.
She also added that she was still a virgin. Meeting someone in the comedy world like Coleman was a dream come true, so she did everything that she could to be polite to him even though she was very uncomfortable.
Shannon told fans, “He was relentless. Then, he was like trying to kiss me and get on top and I was like, ‘No, Gary. Stop.’ So, I pushed him off. Then, I would get off the bed. Then, he would ounce on the bed. And wrap himself around me. Then, I would fling him off. And then he got on top of me. I guess because of his size I didn’t feel physically threatened. But… it was going on and on. Repeating, I would throw him off, he would get back on. And then finally, I threw him off. I was really getting out of breath because it was athletic and aerobic. And then, I go lock myself in the bathroom and then he sticks his hands under the door and he’s like, ‘I can see you.'”
The allegations that Shannon is making are intense and there are more in her book. Coleman, who passed away in 2010, was known for his starring role in Different Strokes.
