CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers here with another throwback spoiler, and this one s going to be fun. So, just to be safe, let’s make sure we have plenty to drink on hand and enough snacks to tide us over.

This time, we’re heading back to the twentieth century by a few months to an episode that aired on June 21, 1999. While this is touted as a rivalry, it could be easier describe as Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) throwing a temper tantrum. Of course, this was when he was facing off with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), so it’s understandable. Especially when we take into consideration what Victor lost.

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For May 14: Man without a company

It’s hard to remember a time when Victor wasn’t at the head of Newman Enterprises aside from enjoying retirement, but it happened. And Jack made himself at home in Victor’s CEO chair. It’s temporary given how gifted Victor is at getting back what’s his, but it’s still a shock. This is why his throwing a tantrum by destroying the portrait on the wall and breaking a pencil in Jack’s face can be forgiven. To an extent. It was his way of showing he wasn’t going to be pushed around and wouldn’t stand for Jack taking his company away. One thing that came out of this was Jack wondered if that was how his father felt when he lost Jabot to Victor.

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For May 14: What goes around

What makes this and other rivalries so much fun for CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers is that it’s what a rivalry is all about. We pick one side and stick with them through thick or thin, or we bandwagon back and forth between who we think will win or we feel should win. It’s a great way to keep us engaged with the show, especially when we have two iconic figured like Victor and Jack clashing for decades over women and business.

They’ve stood toe to toe and exchanged the hardest of punches from body blows to haymakers, and each have found a way to battle back. Their feud has become more of a friendship based on mutual respect. While there’s always the chance for something to heat up to the point of eruption between them, it tends to sit on simmer more now than it did in bygone years. Who knows? Maybe they’ll go into a joint venture at some point. That’d be a fun endeavor. Check back with CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers for the lats updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
