CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers here and getting ready for another day of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott)’s Lifetime of Love continues with the pair unable to stay apart. It’s not surprising given how often they’ve split and come together again. Of course, there’s always something that makes these things more complicated than they need to be. And given this episode aired April 14, 1998, that reason was Diane Jenkins (Alex Donnelley).

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For May 7: Victor Is Torn

Despite being with Diane, Victor thought it best to marry Nikki until she passed, then go back to Diane. Kinda sounds familiar, like this is happening in LA on “The Bold and the Beautiful?” Anyway, this one was done better since Nikki wasn’t conniving. The problems started when Nikki is actually showing signs of improving and Diane is forced to wait longer. Diane can’t and won’t wait forever. This came to a head when Victor said he would remain with Nikki until she’s fully recovered emotionally and physically. Of course, Diane had her doubts. How much more tension can she take? This is one of those episodes that has been talked about since it aired, and it’ll be discussed for years to come. And this is what makes it a classic.

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For May 7: Grinding Those Emotions

CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers have noticed that most of the episodes this week have focused on some sort of positive, hopefulness concerning Nikki and Victor’s relationship, but this puts the focus of what their relationship did to another that had been pulled in. In this case, Diane is going to be aggressive and hurt by Victor’s time away, and she’s running out of ways to cope with it. Out of all the scenes in this episode, including Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) and Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), these will be some of the hardest and darkest to watch as Diane fights against her own fear their relationship will end.

As for Nikki and Victor, we all know how their story ends up, but it doesn’t take away from the power of their love. There’s no way aside from death to keep them apart for long, though many have tried at various points. In the end, there are some things that can’t be controlled no matter how much money or power we accumulate. Where so you rank this episode out of the ones we’ve seen this week? Let us know in the comments, and check back with CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
