CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that actor Sean Dominic is opening up about his character, Dr. Nate Hastings. While Nate surely has had his fair share of ups and downs, he’s managed to remain quite positive while also giving his friends the helping hand that they need from time to time. And why is that? Because Dominic believes that his character is a hero in disguise. Here’s what he has to say.

“I grew up watching Denzel Washington and Will Smith, and they usually played the hero. That’s why I’ve always been attracted to that kind of role,” he reflected. “I think playing a villain would be fun, too, but I don’t want to be stuck in that role!”

With that said, Dominic adds that he wants to continue to portray his character in a positive light, which might be a bit difficult seeing how life in Genoa City is anything but peaceful. Still, the actor says that he wants to see his character do good, even when there are so many manipulative people around him that might not have the same values that he has.

“I was on a show before ‘Young and the Restless’ where I played a character who broke up with this girl. When I was in the mall, this dude comes at me, saying, ‘Hey, man, I hate what you did to that girl… but I love your work!’” he laughed. “I can’t imagine having a career always playing the villain and having people hate me! And I know Y&R fans can be passionate, so I’m hoping Nate will continue to be the hero!”
