Longtime viewers have expressed their outrage over the fact that Doug Davidson is no longer as visible on the show as he used to be before. As a matter of fact, they have even began a new campaign with a petition for CBS execs to bring Doug’s character Paul Williams back on full-time status. Here’s what you need to know.
The petition online says, “After 41 years of loyalty & commitment to CBS, Emmy award-winning actor, Doug Davidson is NOT receiving the storylines and/or airtime he deserves. Please show your support in wanting a more integral role for “Chief Paul Williams” on ‘Young and The Restless’ by signing this petition. In an industry where top executives are rewarded and paid an exorbitant amount of money to go away for questionable behavior, someone of Doug’s character, talent and grace being “discarded” is unconscionable!!!”

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ News: Outraged Fans Spark Online Petition And Protest For Doug Davidson
So far Doug Davidson himself has not made any comments about the petition but as of press time, there have been over 7,800 signatures. Many fans have left comments such as, “. Doug is asset to the show he is a wonderful actor and to be signed back permanently on the show thank you,” along with, “Let’s keep the oldies but goodies. I like some consistency in Y&R characters.”
Now, whether or not the producers of ‘Young and the Restless’ decide to put Paul Williams back on as a full-time character remains to be seen. Right now, no additional comments have been made about Doug’s contract or his future with the show for that matter.”
