'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Doug Davidson Opens Up About His Recurring Status

‘The Young and the Restless'(Y&R) Spoilers: finds that star Doug Davidson is opening up about his recurring status. The actor, who is best known for his role as Detective Paul Williams, pretty much admits that he was blindsided with the producers’ decision to take him off-contract back in 2018. Here’s what he has to say.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the actor said that in the beginning, no one was supposed to know that he was taken off-contract. He explained, “One thing led to another and pretty much, you are driven down to nothing in terms of screen time and people begin to notice. I think the flashpoint was when they put Rey in my chair in my office and I don’t think I had been on since. This would have been September and I think my last episode was taped somewhere in mid-to-late July, so it had been awhile. Because being on the show was such a constant, it was more of personal suffering for me because I had known nothing other than The Young and the Restless professionally for pretty much my entire adult life.”

Thankfully, Doug did utilize his spare time to be with his family and do things that he’s always wanted to do, which was something he couldn’t find the time for when he was still on contract with the show. He further explained, “So like from 21 on, I had forgotten what I liked to do. Between that and running a family and being with family, there’s no time for much else. So it was really hard for me personally to knot have anything on the docket or not knowing what’s coming.” Now, as far as whether or not we will be seeing more or less of Doug in the future remains to be seen. For now, ‘The Young and the Restless’ fans will simply have to tune in for all of the drama.
