That’s because many daytime television fans are making it clear that they want to see Doug’s iconic character Paul Williams get more air time or at least the same amount of air time that some of his Y&R contemporaries have seen recently. The #MoreDougDavidson petition reads, “After 41 years of loyalty & commitment to CBS, Emmy award-winning actor, Doug Davidson is NOT receiving the storylines and/or airtime he deserves. Please show your support in wanting a more integral role for “Chief Paul Williams” on ‘The Young and The Restless’ by signing this petition. In an industry where top executives are rewarded and paid an exorbitant amount of money to go away for questionable behavior, someone of Doug’s character, talent, and grace being “discarded” is unconscionable!!!”

CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ News: ‘More Doug Davidson’ Petition Gaining Steam
The petition has so far gained over 12,000 signatures even though it only had a goal of about 1,000 and 8,000 comments and counting. Some fans have added, “Please return Doug he deserves to continued to be recognized for his amazing work & is a kind-hearted loyal person to his fans we need him back on our screen,” along with, “Doug is an institution on Y&R. I look forward to seeing him and have looked forward to the scenes he is in. Fans of Y&R are faithful ones, and we want Doug back in the family. Just do it, please?” Another fan put it this way, “I wholeheartedly support this effort to make TPTB at Young & the Restless know how much fans miss seeing Doug Davidson get little air time. Paul Williams is an iconic character and has brought this character to life. Bring him back.”
