Piers Morgan, easily the most polarizing man in the western world this week has plenty of haters, but he also has a loyal fan/friend in fellow Brit, Sharon Osbourne.
Co-host of CBS’s The Talk, Osbourne tweeted in defense of her friend who had been fired/quit (does anyone really know) from Good Morning Britain after storming off set when faced with criticism from a fellow host for his derogatory diatribe against Meghan Markle.
. @piersmorgan I am with you. I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.

Mrs. O’s ‘stand by my man’ Tweet did not sit well with many, many…many critics, blasting her for blind loyalty to someone who’s big, loud opinion is his “truth”, yet he harasses others for speaking “their truth.”
CBS is Launching an “Internal Investigation” After the Sharon Osbourne On-Screen Blow Up.
Piers, and apparently Sharon, did not comprehend that dismissing and/or condemning everything the Duchess of Sussex spoke about during her sit down with Oprah Winfrey last weekend was extremely harmful for those who have found themselves in a similar position- especially when she spoke about her struggles with mental health.
The bone of contention that took center stage on The Talk, however, was Pier’s previous racist behavior toward Markle and his further dismissal of the specific struggles she has faced– that no one else has ever faced within the Royal family.
Her race. Most specifically the conversation(s) that were had about the color of Meghan and Prince Harry’s children.
As Sharon’s co-hosts Cheryl Underwood and Elaine Welteroth, both women of color tried to explain this, Sharon flew into defensive mode and felt like she was being called racist just because her friend has been labelled as racist.
I believe it had more to do with your blanket defense of his racism, Mrs. O.
“How can I possibly be racist?” Sharon demanded before she began swearing, raised her voice, even weaponized her tears, everything Elaine and Cheryl did not, likely because they would have been labelled as ‘Angry Black Women’ had they have done so.
After filming, it was reported that Sharon still refused to patch things up with Cheryl in the dressing rooms.
It seems a little odd that Sharon, who tweeted in Piers defense on Tuesday, receiving almost instant backlash, hadn’t come to set prepared to explain herself on Wednesday, or back up her claims with research about Pier’s purported lack of racism…but she didn’t, the argument ensued and now there is an investigation going on.
Said a CBS spokesperson, “We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace,” the network said in a statement provided to PEOPLE on Friday night. “All matters related to the Wednesday episode of The Talk are currently under internal review.”
The Talk is meant to be just that- a discussion where, just like Piers, Mrs O., Cheryl and Elaine are paid to give their opinion, so it’s hard to say what CBS is investigating. It seems they could have just made the statement “Don’t blame us- we woke.”
For her part, Sharon, who was called out for ‘white fragility; in the media, and even blunter terms on social media issued an apology after calming down.

We don’t expect this ‘investigation’ to go much further, but if we see something, we’ll say something so watch this space for further updates!
