1.89million British viewers tuned in to witness Piers Morgan’s childish tantrum after being challenged about his loud and proud opinions of Meghan Markle and his subsequent storming off the Good Morning Britain set.
The clip has now been seen by millions more worldwide.
Love him or hate him, it’s safe to say Morgan is ratings gold so it’s no surprise a “bombardment” of offers came pouring in the instant ITV confirmed Morgan and Good Morning Britain have parted ways.
While the “woke police” (as Morgan refers to those offended by his acid tongued remarks) won the battle after Morgan refused to apologize on air for his hateful remarks about Meghan Markle and the Duchess of Sussex’s controversial Oprah interview, they have “not won the war”.
We Haven’t Seen the Last of Piers Morgan Yet
A source close to Morgan said he spent the evening of his quitting/firing drinking a £400 bottle of champagne, smoking a cigar and enjoying his favorite Indian takeaway while sorting through the offers, suggestions and new deals that came flooding in.
It’s unsurprising, seeing as Morgan had achieved what he had set out to do; to turn Good Morning Britain’s flailing ratings around and leave his very Piers mark.
The source went on to explain there were some “pretty interesting” offers Morgan will consider, “plus a few wild and wacky offers which he had a laugh about.” The source added, “Given a few legal sensitivities ongoing with ITV, Piers won’t be making any major announcements just yet though.”
Morgan emerged from his £6million London townhouse yesterday—one would think with a touch of a champagne hangover—to declare: “I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly-held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it.”
Such an on-brand statement was expected, but still it has to sting, knowing that his biggest foe had a silent hand in his departure from his cushy high-horse seat with Good Morning Britain, with only nine months of his contract left.
Either way, we’ll see you soon, Piers. We’re sure of it.
