Prince William is getting a lot of heat for not showing up at the Women’s World Cup Final in Australia to support the Lady Lionesses. And because he didn’t make the trip Down Under, there are some people calling for him to step down as the President of the Football Association.
Why? Because critics think that he would have been there for the men but failed to show up for the women.
Calls Are Being Made For Prince William To Step Down As President Of The Football Association
Prince William is getting slammed in all different directions for not supporting women in sports. Even though he posted a video of himself saying how sad and disappointed he was that he couldn’t make it to Australia for the final game of the Women’s World Cup, some people are not buying into it.
Piers Morgan, who has always been the first person to defend the royal family, called out Prince William for not being there. He didn’t hold back on his words, either.
When one of his Twitter followers wrote, “Royal obligations shouldn’t include sporting events you formless mass,” Piers promptly replied with, “They should if you agree to be President of the Football Association and England reach a World Cup Final. If it was the men’s team, he’d be there faster than I sprint to McDonald’s when the craving gets too much.”
Other people wrote sarcastic comments like “Like most normal people he’d want to go to the men’s final but has little interest in the women’s,” and “If the president of FA isn’t going to bother to turn up when England reached a world cup final what’s the point of doing the job?”
Should Prince William Quit His Role?
All these questions and Prince William has yet to provide any answers to them.
Many critics agree that if the men were to reach the World Cup Final in the future, it would be a bad look for Prince William to go, especially since he failed to support the Lady Lionesses. Others say that regardless of what the royal protocol may be, as the president of the British Football Association, Prince William should be at all of the games, no matter what.
Buckingham Palace has stayed silent on the matter.
