The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has rejected claims that he cancelled a state visit to Scotland on the grounds that he had an adverse reaction to the Covid-19 vaccine and flu shot.
Governor Of California Gavin Newsom Denies Suffering An Adverse Reaction From The Covid-19 Vaccine-‘That’s Made Up’
The claims were made in an article published by The Daily Mail. Gavin had been on course to attend ‘The COP 26 UN Climate Change Conference.’
This is where world leaders came together in order to come up with initiatives designed to combat what they perceive to be a growing threat caused by climate change.
And given that his cancellation was last minute, people began to suspect that the vaccine may have been behind his absence. In an official statement, Gavin sought to clear up the rumours.
He said: “That’s made up. I had absolutely no impact whatsoever from the COVID shot, nor from the original or the booster.
“[Be careful of] “intentional misrepresentation and misinformation around the efficacy and safety of these vaccines.”
This begs the question, why was there speculation surrounding this? Well, it turns out that Gavin was not visible in the public eye for quite some time. And yet, there was an innocent explanation for all of this.
He had been attending to some family matters, and ultimately he chose to spend more time with his family. Therefore, he put his family before any political matters.
And given that Halloween was around the corner, Gavin did not want to be the one that would disappoint his children by going overseas. He added: “The kids literally kind of had an intervention.
“They couldn’t believe that I was going to miss Halloween … I’m defending myself. I had no damn choice. I had to cancel that trip.”
Despite spending some time with his family, Gavin reassured all his supporters that he was making sure that productive work was done behind the scenes on climate change and other issues that his community cared about.
His following comments confirmed as much: “It’s [time with family has] been probably the most productive week I’ve had since I’ve been governor.”
Luckily for everyone involved, Gavin is still in one piece. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
