He should have just waited for an invite, right? Britney Spears‘ former husband Jason Alexander has been convicted of trespassing and battery, after attempting to crash the singer’s wedding to Sam Asghari. Here’s what you need to know.

Alexander, 40, pleaded no contest to the charges at a court hearing in Ventura County, California, on Thursday. He has been ordered to serve 128 days in jail. Having already served 64 days of the sentence, Alexander will have to serve 64 more, according to a court docket seen by the PA news agency.

Alexander was initially charged with felony stalking, two counts of misdemeanor battery, one count of misdemeanor vandalism and one count of misdemeanor trespassing. He was found not guilty of felony stalking and not guilty of a further misdemeanor vandalism charge.

Alexander was Spears’ first husband and they were married for less than three days in 2004 before an annulment. Shortly before the incident, her former partner Alexander posted an Instagram Live story from outside her property in which he said he was there to “crash” the wedding.

After the wedding, the newlyweds celebrated with celebrity guests like Paris and Kathy Hilton, Versace herself, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore and Spears’ longtime friend and collaborator, Madonna. Unfortunately, no one from Spears’ family was there, including her two sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. Reports say that Spears’ brother was invited, but he didn’t show up.

“Although the boys will not be in attendance, Kevin and the boys are happy for Britney and wish her and Sam all the best going forward,” Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline’s attorney, previously told ET. “They are excited that this will be a positive development for her post-conservatorship life.”

“Kevin and the boys want her to be happy,” Kaplan added. “Hopefully this will be a key for her to be happy and remain happy going forward. They all feel that this is Britney and Sam’s day and nothing should take away from that.”
