Britney Spears’ attorney Samuel Ingham III has decided to step down amid the singer’s conservatorship battle with her father, Jamie Spears.
Britney Spears’ Attorney Steps Down Amid The Singer’s Conservatorship Battle
The news comes as a huge blow to Britney, who is hoping to challenge the initial decision to keep her father on as her conservator. And by the looks of it, Samuel is in a hurry to leave. According to reports, he has already decided to submit his notice of resignation which would leave Britney without an attorney.
Having said all that, he will remain in place until a suitable replacement has been found. This could have a negative impact on Britney for the following reason. Samuel had been representing Britney for the last 13 years, as she navigated her way through her legal problems.
Although he has received backlash from fans over his lack of perceived support for Britney, he certainly has more knowledge than most people when it comes to Britney’s personal life. And yet, the decision was very predictable in light of Britney’s own admissions.
She stated how she was unaware that she could express herself publicly after having been informed by Samuel that such behaviour was either impossible or would not portray her in a very good light. Given the mass support Britney had received following her public statements after the court hearing, nothing could be further from the truth.
In a prior statement given to the court, Britney said: “I didn’t know I could petition the conservatorship to be ended. I’m sorry for my ignorance, but I honestly didn’t know that. My attorney says I can’t — it’s not good, I can’t let the public know anything they did to me.”
With Samuel out of the way, Britney can focus on getting herself a lawyer that represents exactly what she is looking for. And with the singer being more vocal in what she wants from her life, the prospect of her winning against her father can only have improved.
And Britney’s following comments to the court confirmed her determination to win her freedom: “I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years, and it’s enough.” Time will tell how Britney’s new legal team will tackle her dispute.
