October 12th marks the sixth wedding anniversary of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. Their nuptials, held at St. George’s Chapel, were a high-society event, and the bride wore an elegant gown that allowed her scoliosis surgery scar to be in full view of her guests.

Eugenie’s Wedding Dress Featured A Low-Back To Show Her Surgical Scar

It was a brave decision, as the bride’s goal was to change people’s perception of scars as undesirable blemishes on the body.

Her gorgeous wedding dress featured a low-back style, and she also changed into another dress during the reception that proudly displayed her surgical scar.

The scar was from a spinal correction surgery she had when she was twelve years old. However, before the ceremony, Eugenie said,

“I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars, and I think it’s exceptional to stand up for that.”

Eugenie invited numerous representatives from the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in London to show her gratitude for their support.

Peter Pilotto designed the Princess’s custom gown. It had a corseted bodice and a full pleated skirt. The neckline was reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy’s first wedding dress in 1953.

The fabric draped off the shoulders to reveal a dramatic low-back cut. Eugenie specifically requested the lower back to reveal the surgical scar. A flowing cathedral-length train was Cinderella-inspired and fit for a fairytale.

The enchanting bouquet was made up of fragrant flowers, including lily of the valley, ivy, spring of myrtle, white spray roses, and trailing iris.

Princess Eugenies Tiara for her wedding

Eugenie wore the Queen Mother’s Greville emerald tiara, which boasted an early 20s art-deco design. Princess Eugenie was the only royal to publicly wear the piece, which was part of Queen Elizabeth’s impressive collection. The bride was a stunning vision and the epitome of class.

Princess Eugenie Had A Poignant And Memorable Wedding

Eugenie and Jack invited 850 royals and others, including famous guests like Naomi Campbell, Liv Tyler, Demi Moore, Kate Moss, Ellie Goulding, George and Amal Clooney, Elton John, and Robbie Williams.

Prince Andrew walked his beaming daughter down the aisle. Sarah Ferguson watched on, shedding tears of joy. Princess Beatrice was the maid of honor.

Opera singer Andrea Bocelli performed an astonishing rendition of Ave Maria. Princess Beatrice read a section from The Great Gatsby in which Nick Carroway describes Jack Gatsby’s smile because it reminded her of Jack’s smile.

At the reception, which took place at Royal Lodge, Eugenie changed into an equally elegant evening gown custom-made by Zac Posen. The dress was a gorgeous blush silk gown with strong shoulders, a hand-pleated bodice, and draped design.

London-based cake designer Sophie Cabot crafted the wedding cake.It consisted of three layers of red velvet and two chocolate sponge cakes covered with butter cream and white icing. It was decorated in a fall theme, with dark green ivy sugar, and orange leaves. The bride and groom’s initials were around the base.

The father-of-the-bride waited by the castle door and held her train as she climbed into a rare Astin Martin, made for a James Bond film.

Princess Eugenie’s wedding was touching, beautiful, and poignant. Six years later, the couple is still going strong.
