British Royal Family News reveal there hasn’t been many Easter Sunday’s like this throughout Queen Elizabeth’s reign. The day is usually one when Her Majesty is out and about mingling with the British public and also seeing family members. However, that could have been further from the truth this year. Instead, she spent the entire day at Windsor Castle, and delivered a message uniting the country.
It is the second message that the Queen has recorded in as many weeks. This time, she urged that the deadly virus will not ‘overcome’ us. That means, unlike in her speech last week, this time she did speak directly about COVID-19. She then went on to talk about the importance of Easter in this current climate.
British Royal Family News: Extra Importance Of Easter This Year
The Queen’s message was delivered just hours after it emerged that just under 10,000 people had died after getting COVID-19 in the United Kingdom. She referenced the lighting of the candles in her speech, and said that it is a sign that the will light will overcome the darkness.
Her Majesty was making the speech from Windsor Castle, where she historically spends the Easter period. However, this year she was moved there a week earlier due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the UK forced the British government to put measures in place to slow the spread of the virus.
British Royal Family News: First-Ever Queen’s Easter Message
It was a welcome surprise for royal fans to see the Queen release an Easter message, as records show that it isn’t something that Her Majesty typically does. The video came just seven days after the Queen’s address to the nation last Sunday, which attracted over 20 million viewers.
The message was an important one from the Queen as she looked to unite the nation as well as echo the measures that the British government have in place. There were fears over the weekend that the public would ignore the measures in place as the UK was bathed in sunshine. Meanwhile, Boris Johnson is also out of hospital now, but it isn’t yet known when the prime minister will return to work.
