British royal family news has revealed that Prince William has taken up a secret new role throughout lockdown. The Duke of Cambridge has been very active through the period in the United Kingdom, and has continued that work over the last couple of weeks. Mental health issues are very close to the heart of William, and he has been offering support for those suffering throughout lockdown.
William revealed this week that he has been counselling people anonymously on the Shout 85258 platform. The platform ensures that those that need help are able to get it through text messages, and people with personal issues tend to use this route of communication as a way to open up about their feelings.
British Royal Family News: William Reveals Announcement In Video Call
William revealed that he has been helping people with their issues in a video call recorded last month. He revealed in that video that he has been keeping his role over the past month or so a secret, but he told fellow volunteers last month that he is also volunteering and offering his services for the platform.
The Duke has been trained at how to react to those suffering from mental health issues. Kensington Palace confirmed the reports, as William made the announcement to tie in with Volunteers Week. Royal fans will be delighted to see how hands-on William has been throughout the lockdown, and mental health issues are something that William is certainly trying to help with.
British Royal Family News: Huge Number Of Volunteers
The platform reportedly has 2,000 volunteers that help with those that get in touch. Those that spoke to William wouldn’t have known that they were speaking to the future king, as he didn’t use his real name. Not many volunteers on the platform use their real name, which ensures that it wasn’t too rare.
The platform was launched by Kate and William last year, as they invested around £3 million into the platform. It seems to have been a success since launching, with more than 300,000 conversations taking place over the platform. The recent statistics showed that the majority of the people that get in touch with the volunteers are aged under 25.
