British royal family news was delighted to learn this week that Prince William was the featured guest on That Peter Crouch Podcast. The podcast has been one of the biggest success stories for podcasting from the BBC over recent years as Crouch talks to some of the biggest names in sport alongside BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Stark and BBC Sport’s Tom Fordyce.

The podcast has welcomed a plethora of guests throughout its history, including Premier League referee Mike Dean and Burnley manager Sean Dyche. However, there is a sense that the podcast has broken new ground this week as they welcomed Prince William to the show, as it was filmed from Kensington Palace.

British Royal Family News: William Talks Mental Health

This is a big week for William, as the soccer world gears up for the Heads Up FA Cup final on Saturday. Speaking to the podcast ahead of the final, William revealed that openly talking about mental health will have a positive effect on those suffering to come forward and ask for help.

It was revealed by the BBC that William spent much of the afternoon with the team, as they had previously had curry before recording the podcast. There was also a follow-up discussion with William and the team, which was filmed via Zoom. This was the first time that William had appeared on a podcast, and it certainly is a must-listen for all fans of the royal family.

British Royal Family News: William Talks About Importance Of Soccer

The podcast is primarily a soccer podcast, with Crouch himself being an ex-professional that played for Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and England throughout his career. William was asked whether the sport is now a form of release for him, to which William replied that the sport is much more important now than it previously was.

He revealed that talking about the sport helps him ‘a lot’. Crouch also played for Aston Villa during his career, and was keen to know why the future king chose to support the club. He admitted that he opted for the Villa so that he wasn’t classed as a ‘glory hunter’ for supporting a team such as Manchester United or Chelsea.
