British royal family news has seen David Beckham and Prince William talk openly about their mental health this week. Beckham remains one of the biggest names in the world of soccer, which meant that it was a no brainer for the prince to enlist his help to talk about mental health ahead of one of the biggest games in the sport on Saturday.
It was a welcome sight for fans of celebrity of sport, as Beckham and Prince William are two of the most instantly recognisable faces in the world. But, there was a greater importance to their video call than simply just checking in, as they spoke openly about mental health issues.

During the discussion, Beckham revealed that he has been teaching his children about the importance of a mental health throughout their lives. Becks has four children with Victoria Beckham, with the oldest of those being Brookyln, who recently got engaged.
The former soccer star revealed that he tells his children that they should speak out if they are tackling any issues in their live. He also revealed that footballers also go through the same issues and they are often fearful about coming forward.
Beckham rose to prominence during the 90s with Manchester United, before becoming a pulverising figure in 1998 when he was sent off for England in the 1998 World Cup against Argentina.

Beckham, more than most, has had to deal with huge challenges throughout his career. None more than when he returned from that World Cup in 1998 as he was lamented by the British press, with ‘fans’ burning his England shirt in the streets. As well as this, who was booed at every ground that he travelled to with United throughout the following season.
The England star revealed in the discussion that social media would have made the reactions to this even more ‘brutal’, and that he felt that it wasn’t okay to face up to how he was feeling.
Needless to say, England fans soon forgot about this when he became a cult hero after guiding England to the World Cup finals in 2002 with a last minute free-kick against Greece. He was finally vindicated as he scored a winning penalty against Argentina in the group stages of the World Cup in 2002.
