Ben Savage wants to get back into politics, but this time he’s thinking bigger and is now running for a seat in the U.S. Congress. If Rep. Adam Schiff runs for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat, as is generally anticipated to happen shortly, the “Boy Meets World” star will be running for a soon-to-be-vacant seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Ben has officially filed paperwork stating his interest in running for office in California’s 30th District, which encompasses portions of Los Angeles and cities immediately to its north, in anticipation of that electoral upheaval. Ben recently tried his hand at more local politics; in November, he ran for the L.A. City Council but failed after receiving only 6.3% of the vote and tying for seventh place.

But Cory Matthews is returning to the field rather than taking his ball and leaving. The same as when he stood for city council, he is registered as a Democrat. In fact, while attending Stanford University in the 2000s, Ben worked as an intern for Pennsylvania’s then-Senator Arlen Specter.

Ben can anticipate a competitive race with seasoned political veterans since Schiff’s seat is widely sought for. 7th place in local politics, to making a run for a U.S. Congressional Seat is a pretty crazy move, but perhaps taking a long shot is just what someone needs to do. It’ll be interesting to see if he makes a dent in the votes.
