Bill Maher is known as a hardcore liberal and has been for decades. He constantly insults and jokes about the Republican party, though recently he has had plenty to say about the Democratic party led by President Joe Biden and his reckless spending habits with the ‘Build Back Better’ plan.
During COVID-19 (and even still today), millions of Americans received unemployment benefits, as well as companies getting PPP to spend. However, these were quickly taken advantage of and there were fervent cases of fraud among the United States and the ‘free’ money is not coming back to haunt us.
Bill Maher Goes Off On The Build Back Better Spending On The Joe Rogan Experience
Maher went on about this on the Joe Rogan Experience, saying that at a certain point he has to side with the Republicans and that liberals need to realize that printing this much money is a problem. Not to mention the ramped up cases of fraud! He spoke about the number of cases saying,
“The percentage of graft keeps getting higher and higher. Now we found out recently that something like, oh I’m going to get the number wrong, maybe you can look it up on your magic lightbox but like 20 percent, I think, of the unemployment checks we passed our during covid were complete fraud.”
He mentioned that even J.K. Rowling received the money. It’s not great when the wealthy are receiving unemployment checks because they ‘be living in their car’ without it.
While Maher retains his liberal status, he asks at what number of fraudulent money is he allowed to start caring about it. It seems that many people aren’t worried about it, but Maher thinks there should be some kind of cap because the reckless spending it insane.
