‘Bachelor in Paradise‘ spoilers find that Grocery Store Joe, the second person to hit the beach during this season of Bachelor in Paradise is still a huge hit with fans.

However, viewers tuning into the season 7 premiere found that their favorite grocery store owner wasn’t the same happy go lucky guy they met back on Becca Kurfin’s season 14 of the Bachelorette and wanted to protect the 35 year old Chicagoan at all costs.

It was touch and go for fans of ole Joe when, within minutes of arriving in paradise, he began to doubt his decision to join the cast for a second time round. Initially Joe professed to be over the split of his relationship with Kendall Long, whom he met in Paradise in 2018,
“Breaking up was the hardest thing I ever had to do,” he confessed, reflecting on the end of his 18 month relationship with taxidermist, Kendall. “Right away you have your doubts and you’re obviously upset, but I forced myself to get over her.”
Expressing interest in Canadian, Serena Pitt who became another fan favorite on Matt James’ season of The Bachelor, Grocery Joe quickly recognized he had competition in the form of Tayshia Adams’ cast-offs, Ivan Hall and Brendan Morais.
Instantly Joe began doubting himself and, along with his (unfounded) insecurities (we love you, Joe), he began to realize he may not be 100% ready to move on. Especially after Joe and Serena had the chance to chat.
The chemistry he felt with Serena had him remembering the good ole Paradise days with Kendall. Choking back tears he told the camera, “My conversation with Serena P. was like talking to Kendall.”

Fans continued to worry when they notice Joe hadn’t been seen for a while after excluding himself from the group.

And for good reason. Joe looked to be grabbing up his not yet unpacked bags and head for the hills…or the airport…or host, David Spade’s taco restaurant until he reconnected with Serena. Despite Joe’s heartache, the pair had a lighthearted, but somewhat deep conversation about Joe’s breakup from Kendall and the two new Paradisian’s 12-year age difference. Joe even managed to score himself a kiss from (in bartender, Wells Adams observation) the most sought after woman on the beach.
