Dave Chappelle’s newest Netflix comedy special ‘The Closer’ has sparked a lot of controversy over claims of transphobia and homophobia. Fellow comics and fans have come out in defense of Dave, including fellow comedian and friend Joe Rogan.
Still, even weeks after its release, the controversy is still here. Comedian JP Sears who goes by AwakenWithJP on Youtube, is famous for his parody and characters, and his video from last week describing why Dave Chappelle got ‘cancelled’ is hilarious. Take a look at the video below.

Viewers commented on the video, “This was the first Dave Chappelle show I watched from start to finish. I think it was great and I’m planning to watch all his content that is on Netflix :)”, “The best stand up comedy is one where 50% of the room is laughing, and the other 50% is mortified.” – Patrice O’Neal”, “Dave just got stronger, I’ll watch him no matter what.”, “In America, everyone has the right to pretend to be whatever they want. No one has the right to force everyone else to go along with their fantasy.”, “Cancel culture” is a politically correct word for Fascism.”, and “Chappelle doesn’t discriminate…he inclusively makes fun of everyone. 😏”
However, through all the controversy, Chappelle’s special continues to shine and viewers keep on watching it. While JP is playing a character and making a parody of himself, it’s sadly still relevant and true. A select few people are trying to tear down Dave while the majority are standing behind him. The great thing is, Dave doesn’t care, because “Twitter’s not a real place”.
