Marlon Wayans sat down with Netflix’s Strong Black Lead earlier this month to discuss a couple of things. What stood out was him discussing his family’s legacy in comedy and forging his own path. The Wayans family of entertainers is pretty big with most of Marlon Wayans’ siblings being comedians. Most of their children entered show business as actors and screenwriters. Keenan was the one who pretty much pushed his siblings’ careers in television during the 90s with the show In Living Color.  However, the younger brothers, Marlon and Shawn were the two who weren’t starring actors in the show. They would get…

LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s HBO show, The Shop, is a pretty interesting talk show depending on the guests and topic. Some episodes can be great throughout whereas others either take a bit before warming up or start off hot before cooling off. Honestly, it all depends if you’re interested in the guests and what they’re talking about.  Will Smith on The Shop Episode 8 Case in point is episode eight which features Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Chance the Rapper, CC Sabathia, and Paul Rivera. As with any talk show, it can be the hosts who draw you in but other times, it’s…

One of McDonald’s biggest promotions—if not it’s the biggest promotion—is McDonald’s Monopoly. Back in 2000, it was revealed that it was the grounds for a scheme to pick up the big prize pieces. Mark Wahlberg’s McMillions is a crime documentary series that goes into this event. For those who might not be familiar with it, it’s a crossover of the world’s biggest fast-food chain and one of the most popular board games of all time, Monopoly.   Whenever you order certain items off the menu, you have pull-off stickers on either the cup, fry box, or food container which corresponded with a piece…

Black Summer is a horror series that takes place at the start of the zombie apocalypse. I enjoyed the series which starts at the beginning of an apocalypse.  The Walking Dead’s first season was similar to this in that we see what happens after Rick wakes up from his coma. Fear the Walking Dead opens its first season showing the panic of the outbreak from the start—pretty much during that gap of time Rick Grimes is out.  It took until the end of season one but we find out that humans are the walking dead. I don’t remember it being said in the…

What can I say about The End of the F***ing World? It’s an odd show that will have you wondering “What in the blue hell is going on here?” That doesn’t mean it’s a show worth skipping or that it has far too much going on, though. If it ran for an hour then I might have to say “Yeah, this is a bit much.”   Season 1  It’s a bleak comedy that keeps a decent pace to match the weird situations James and Alyssa find themselves in. Just when you think that the story will slow it down and you’ll get…

I’ll put Netflix’s Immortals in the “unexpectedly good” category. It’s described as a “vampire thriller” which is accurate. There’s a nice mix of drama and action here without things going too far in either direction. The Turkish-produced series wasn’t even a gamble.   There are two things that thrive on Netflix: horror and drama. If you put those two together—which normally happens—you’ve got a winning combination for a show. From the start, Immortals pulls you into an Istanbul where a clan of vampires—led by the cold-blooded Dmitry dominates. Immortals: See The Trailer For Netflix’s Vampire Hit  There is a resistance of vampire hunters who…

Netflix’s Lost in Space is a show that took me two viewings of season one to appreciate. It was firmly on the “watch later” bench but it’s really enjoyable.  I’m guessing it’s down to me not being a fan of the 1960s original or the 1998 film.   That said, Netflix’s remake is actually better than the original since it’s not an “adventure of the week” or “creature of the week” format—something I’m not a fan of at all.   The Lost in Space Season 2 Trailer  This brings us to the trailer for season two of Lost in Space. It dropped late last week, giving…

The thing I love the most about The Walking Dead franchise is when things pick up in a season. Since a season is often split into two parts, when things pick up towards the end of the first half, you know the second half is going to be intense. You also know that someone’s not going to make it out of that season. It’s just a rule of TWD.  The Making of The Walking Dead Season 10  TWD’s YouTube channel recently released a behind-the-scenes view into the making of season ten’s first half. If you’ve been following The Walking Dead since the first season, these kinds of features aren’t…

In late November, Netflix floated the trailer for V Wars, a vampire action-horror show starring The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder and Adrian Holmes. My first thought upon hearing about the show was “Oh cool, Ian’s back.” After seeing the trailer, it was “…and he’s back with these vampires! Decent!”  Details from the V Wars Trailer  Netflix’s trailer for V Wars lays out both an ancient epidemic that is turning people into bloodthirsty creatures and humans’ battle for survival. It’s an age-old war shown in screen works such as Blade, Underworld, The Strain, and so on.   Vampires have the advantage of super strength and super speed and from the trailer,…

Best Let’s go back in time for a few minutes. It’s 2003, summer break is almost over. Commercials have been running on FOX—or whatever network picked up FOX shows—for The O.C. It seems interesting. At this point, FOX had been around for roughly 17 years and wasn’t exactly a powerhouse of dramas. You had New York Undercover, The X-Files, Kindred: The Embraced, Melrose Place, 90210, and others but outside of four of those dramas that weren’t action-driven didn’t usually make it past two seasons. Like…FOX is no ABC, CBS, or NBC when it comes to dramas. It’s a shame because…
