It seems since Joe Rogan signed on the dotted line for Spotify, there’s been nothing but controversy surrounding the deal. Reports of Spotify censoring The Joe Rogan Experience podcast and even blocking certain guests were swirling around, but now it appears that there may be more drama coming from the streaming service.

Recently, Rogan signed that crazy $100 million dollar deal with Spotify, and now it’s been reported that employees who work for Spotify want to censor his podcast. This includes the direct editing and removal of “problematic content” or even entire episodes if they don’t agree with it.

Since these reports a few days ago, it’s even been reported that these employees are threatening to strike if their demands are not met. So, censorship and free speech are 100% under attack it appears.

Are Spotify Employees Planning To Strike Over Joe Rogan?

Rogan is a comedian, UFC commentator and he’s been completely unhinged on his podcast over the last decade with freedom. He’ll talk to everyone and anyone who will sit down. He’s had democratic presidential candidates like Andrew Yang and Tusli Gabbard to conservative talk show hosts Ben Shapiro and Steven Crowder. And of course, the infamous Alex Jones!

This has been the beauty of his podcast, hearing from several different perspectives, and taking nuggets of wisdom from across the board. It’s in no way an “academic” podcast, but when you have Neil DeGrasse Tyson, it’s on the border of academics right?

Of course, it’s this variety of guest that also drive people insane, believing that Rogan should “pick a lane”. Thankfully, Spotify CEO Daniel EK initially has defended Rogan and his right to free speech, however, this has led to reports of multiple employees threatening to go on strike. In addition to editorial oversight, they also want to add trigger warnings, corrections, and more to the episodes.

What do you think? Does this seem silly if it’s true or is it justified? Let us know in the comments below.
