Is Morphe Going Bankrupt After It Partnered With Jeffree Star?

Anybody remember back in the day when Morphe was the thing amongst influencers? Of course we all remember when they first partnered with Jeffree Star, because at the time due to his previous career in music and his presence on MySpace he was probably one of the only internationally known influencers. For quite a few years, the Morphe and Jeffree Star brand was synonymous with each other.

However, it wasn’t long after the whole dramageddon thing that Morphe announced that it was going to part ways with Jeffree Star, and he did the same, they didn’t outright explicitly state that their decision was influenced by dramageddon but the timing was a bit suspect. He made an announcement as well shortly thereafter and looks like he’s done pretty well for himself.

Is Morphe going bankrupt?

However it prompted the question from customers, if Morphe was going to distance themselves from Jeffree Star, then why not do the same for influencers like James Charles – because he was involved in the same scandal and it looks like Morphe stuck by him for the most part, also, it was discovered later that James was doing some rather unsavory things with minors over social media on the side and Morphe really hasn’t come out and said anything about that.

Jeffree Star recently responded to an article over on Twitter saying this: “The owner of Forma in quick panic, severe the relationship with my brand and ruined the entire company… No loyalty, it speaks volumes, and it was one of the biggest backstabbings I’ve ever felt. Linda & Chris had no control, and I will always respect them for their hustle and for believing in me.”

Talk about some piping hot tea!

It seems that now that Morphe has moved away from online influencers and has decided to start partnering with celebrities instead – something is missing from the brand, and that something is what seems to have kept the brand afloat all these years.

Now, unless your name is Jaclyn Hill, people barely discuss the name Morphe anymore. It seems that Jaclyn Hill was an early investor and made a lot of money off of Morphe in the early days, but we also remember the whole Jaclyn Hill lipstick line fiasco and cringe – we do wonder if Morphe was behind that as well, but we digress.

Now there’s rumors that the company may be going bankrupt, but right now it’s just rumors, but a lot of people are saying that they really shot themselves in the foot by dropping Jeffree Star back in 2018 and then turning around and going for celebrity collabs – apparently celebrity names don’t really have all that much buying power in the cosmetic industry anymore – but influencers do.

It makes sense though, celebrities don’t really make it their life’s work to review and test makeup but a lot of beauty influencers do and that’s where a lot of people are saying that Morphe screwed up. We’ll see how this pans out. Stay tuned!!!
