Survivor 42 Spoilers: Omar Zaheer’s Reign in the Driving Rain

Survivor 42 finds that it was a dark and stormy night as two halves of a tribe remerged after a particularly emotional (for one group) tribal council had just played out.

While Romeo Escobar, Mike Turner, Omar Zaheer and Hai Giang joked that they wished their latest oust, Rocksroy Bailey was there start a fire, lightening lit up the rainy sky and thunder clapped in an ominous warning of Lindsay Dolashewich, Drea Wheeler, Johnathan Young  and Maryanne Oketch’s arrival.

Psych! The four strolled back into camp like it was just another (inclement) night and didn’t mention a thing about the huge stand Maryanne and Drea had just made against having a succession of black castaways voted out one after another.

Survivor 42: Omar’s Reign in the Driving Rain

I’m sure the conversation happened off camera…unless everyone was just too darn cold and miserable thanks to the unrelenting rain.

Even host Jeff Probst got nothing from the remaining eight, shivering, teeth chattering as he welcomed them to the reward challenge. Honestly, I think I felt the cold through my television when the camera panned to skin and bones Romeo. Hell, even Goliath Johnathan was shaking his man-bulk all over the place in chilliness.

Lindsay’s reward win came with the responsibility to bring two tribes mates with her to a sanctuary with food, blankets and a four wall shelter- along with a surprise video message from loved ones which, too, was never spoken about with the remainder of the tribe- not even by Jeff at Tribal Council…strange?

Lindsay chose wisely, bringing Mike and the winner of Survivor 42, Omar.

Right? Omar and his sweet and innocent, I-wear-emu-shirts-and-save-sweet-animals’-lives-on-the-reg smile that hides his huge lies and brilliant calculations is totally getting the winners edit (which, really, has kept us all guessing all season- thankyou producers!  Now to step away from the “tension music” giving away when the player is about to win the challenge, please and thank you).

My girl, Lindsay’s choice of Mike (the solid, stand by you guy) and Omar (the 3 steps ahead of all off you guy), along with distancing herself from Johnathan (the really bad at hatching plans guy) has pretty much solidified her spot in the top three…perhaps along with Dea?

But no one is playing Omar’s game. Few ever have- even if Hai thought he was doing just that.

Hai’s less than credible lie to Johnathan, offering to play an idol for him that he didn’t even have wouldn’t have been believable even if Mike hadn’t told Johnathan that Hai was gunning for him (a direct repercussion from Omar’s earlier lie). In the end it was Hai who lulled himself into a false sense of security.

Even with the theatrics at Tribal, with Johnathan’s over-done and over-rehearsed reaction to Lindsay’s talk of “evening the playing field”, Hai ‘s self-confidence didn’t see him question whether he was the big pin Lindsay was actually speaking about, right under his very nose.

After being blindsided, Hai was actually stoked to be voted off the island in such style, all smiles when Jeff snuffed his torch and thanking his fellow tribesmen for the “shock boot” (a shock only to Hai…and maybe Romeo who was, yet again, left out of the majority vote).

Meanwhile, Hai on the jury will be an interesting add. Omar is going to have to now keep Mike in the game for a while yet, at least until the white-hot lie has settled so the pair don’t compare notes over in Ponderosa. But then, we are sure Omar is already a step or two ahead of that!

What do you think of Omar’s game- can he keep the momentum going or do you think is he subject to Hai’s oblivious high and crashing low. Let us know your thoughts on this last episode and keep watching Survivor, Wednesday ta 8pm EST on CBS.
