‘Survivor 42’ Spoilers: Beast Modes Activated (And Not Just Johnathan’s!)

‘Survivor 42’ spoilers find that the differences between the twin seasons of 41 and 42 are night and day and audiences are finally getting to see what producers had in mind when setting up the twists and advantages of nuSurvivor that made us all cringe last season but have us on the edge of our seats now.

Episode three of the current season 42 saw Beast Mode Activated from a couple of Survivors…and from mother nature herself.

For the first time in Survivor history, a tribal challenge had to be paused and modified. Rough ocean conditions made it virtually impossible for the first half of the challenge to be completed, with only one tribe castaway able to safely complete the four-step process (before rocking up to the beach for steps five and six and casually nailing that, as well).

‘Survivor 42’ Spoilers: Beast Modes Activated (And Not Just Johnathan’s!)

As 11 other heads bobbed up and down in a relentless pounding of waves, Johnathan Bunny was Bugs Bunny, covering all the bases, diving, swimming, lifeguarding, and becoming human scaffolding, bringing his team to victory before the other tribes could even drink more saltwater than is humanly safe.

Basically, Johnathon is what happens when Joe Anglim and Ozzy Lusth find a magical amulet and morph into one Super Survivor. Yep, as soon as we hit the merge, Johnathon’s days are numbered.

After watching such physical prowess, audiences were anticipating a similar master class in the psychological side of Survivor as the nuances of gameplay and alliances were played out by the losing Vati heading into tribal for the first time.

Yeah, we didn’t get it…we got a clusterf*** of scrambling, lost votes, shifting alliances, blame games and all the tribal chaos we love.

Finally the advantages and risks are coming into play with both Mike being unable to vote until the bunny is out of the mailbox (no, I did NOT just have a stroke) and now Chanelle losing her vote after radically misinterpreting her conversation with Omar during the Prisoner’s Dilemma (introduced in Survivor 41). Team Omar here- Chanelle said she was protecting her vote all the way.

After votes and revotes and admission of having no vote- it was down to Hai and Daniel to decide if one would change their vote to Lydia or Jenny or draw rocks.

Beast Mode Hai enters the ring.

Unwavering in his decision to stand by an alliance member, Lydia (who sincerely brings nothing to the tribe, but Hai and his loyalty don’t care), all eyes were on Daniel who has already lost his shoes and Mike’s idol, and now the trust from anyone.

Sure, Chanelle did tell him to vote for Lydia, but if he was trying to prove his loyalty to Chanelle, he sure shot himself in the foot by throwing her under the bus – telling his tribe she MADE him vote for Lydia.

After successfully talking and balking his way out of an alliance, Daniel finally flipped his vote to side with Hai who WOULD NOT BE MOVED.

It was an impressively solid stance from Hai, willing to draw rocks  to protect his alliance member- now that’s someone we can party with. Ah heck, we knew we could party with Hai the second he doused himself in fake blood Carrie-style to fake out his team mates on episode one.

Sorry Jenny, but you should have aligned yourself with Beast Hai and not a dude with no vote in order to save your back.
