‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Whitney Rose has decided to address the controversy surrounding her fellow cast member Jennie Nguyen’s prior social media comments.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City: Whitney Rose Gives Her Take On Jennie Nguyen’s Social Media Posts That Were Deemed To Be Racially Insensitive

The comments in question were deemed to be perpetuating racism that had occured in 2020. Reports indicated that she had made posts that were heavily criticising the Black Lives Matter Movement in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.

Given that the rise of cancel culture has made it dangerous for anyone to be associated with those involved in controversy, Whitney wanted to make sure that she not only condemned the comments, but also did everything in her power to distance herself from them.

In an official statement, she said: “Recent events have reminded me of the importance of always leading with LOVE, light and kindness.

“It is NEVER ok to blatantly make, comment, post, and/or share any type of racially charged & derogatory statements/posts.”

Despite the mass criticism coming her way, it is important to bear in mind that Jennie did hold her hands up immediately and apologize.

Although that does not go on to excuse what she had done, it does at the very least suggest that she does have some remorse. In addition, she had also deleted her posts from social media in an attempt to quell the backlash.

In a statement at the time, Jennie remarked: “I want to acknowledge and apologize for my deleted Facebook posts from 2020 that resurfaced today.”

“At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were.” And yet, not everybody was convinced by the apology.

Fellow housewife Jennifer Shah, who just so happens to be embroiled in a controversy herself involving alleged telemarketing fraud, felt that the apology was simply ‘disingenuous’ and more of an attempt to save face.

That is only something that Jennie is fully aware of, and the only way to prove whether that was the case is to monitor her actions going forward. With that in mind, we will have to see how this will play out.
