Heather Thomson’s feud with Leah McSweeney was the reason why the former had stopped coming on film for The Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY).
‘Real Housewives of New York City’: Heather Thomson Initially Left The Show Due To A Bust Up With Leah McSweeney
The dispute started after Ramona Singer had reached out to the duo to meet. After arriving, Heather and Leah engaged in a verbal assault. This forced Heather to walk away, who felt that she could no longer continue with the show. A source said: “Heather could see Leah was acting up for the cameras and using behaviour she considered demeaning and exploitative and frankly, crossed a line. Heather wanted no part of Leah.
“So after she left that weekend, Heather had no interest in continuing the season at all and stopped filming.” She has, since then, confirmed that she would be returning to the franchise. The producers felt it was the right thing to do, given the nature of her popularity with the public. An insider confirmed as much: “Heather’s popular history with the old cast and the excitement about new cast member Eboni Williams prompted production to manoeuvre her return.”
Heather has had a love-hate relationship with the show. She was a regular on the show from seasons 5-7, after which she decided to take a break. Having said that, she continued to be on the fringes of the show, as she made sporadic appearances thereafter. And given by the latest feud, it was easy to understand why she had walked away.
But before she did leave, Heather never shut the door fully from coming back. In a previous interview on RealiTea with Derek Z, Heather stated: “[I left] an open door to make cameos and continue to show my true relationships on the show. I feel like I get the best of both worlds because I can dip my toe in the water, but I don’t really need to stay in the kitchen.”
It will be fascinating to see how Heather and Leah’s bust-up will play out. Both are known for having a lot to say, and by the sounds of it, this feud is merely going to be the beginning.
