Jeffrey Carlson, an actor recognized for his groundbreaking portrayal of a transgender character on the soap opera All My Children, has reportedly passed away at the age of 48. Hailing from Long Beach, California, he had been a part of the daytime TV series since 2006.

The news of his demise was shared on Twitter by Adam Feldman, the theater editor of Time Out New York. Feldman praised Carlson as a talented actor and expressed deep sorrow at his untimely death.

It has been disclosed that Carlson’s mother named him after the fictional character Jeff Martin due to her immense admiration for All My Children.

In August 2006, Carlson initially portrayed a character named Zarf, but later returned to the show in November, revealing his character’s identity as a transgender woman named Zoe. Recently, Carlson had celebrated his birthday on June 23.

They ended the post with, ‘We send our love to Jeffrey’s friends, family, and colleagues, those who knew and loved him dearest.’

Having graduated from the esteemed Juilliard School, Carlson showcased his acting skills in notable productions such as Thief River and Romeo and Juliet.

His Broadway debut occurred in 2003 with Edward Albee’s play The Goat or Who Is Sylvia. He also shared the stage with Academy Award winner Hilary Swank in Tartuffe and The Miracle Worker.

Additionally, Carlson gained recognition for his portrayal of Marilyn, an ’80s British pop star, in the theatrical production Taboo from 2003 to 2004.

Rest in peace, Jeffrey. He was only 48.
