There’s a new report that says Alec Baldwin’s attorney has denied the claim that the actor was “reckless” in the Rust wrongful death lawsuit. Halyna Hutchins’ family is now suing the actor in a wrongful death lawsuit. Here’s what you need to know.

Alec Baldwin’s Attorney Hits Back At Wrongful Death Lawsuit
In a statement made to the press, lawyers for Baldwin and the Rust producers named in the lawsuit say Baldwin, Hutchins “and the rest of the crew relied on the statement by the two professionals responsible for checking the gun that it was a ‘cold gun’ — meaning there is no possibility of a discharge, blank or otherwise.”
The lawyers say the protocol “has worked on thousands of films, with millions of discharges, as there has never before been an incident on a set where an actual bullet harmed anyone.” “Any claim that Alec was reckless is entirely false,” the statement also said.
Documents say that Hutchins’ family claims in their suit that the “defendants had the power to prevent her death if they had only held sacrosanct their duty to protect the safety of every individual on a set where firearms were present instead of cutting corners on safety procedures where human lives were at stake, rushing to stay on schedule and ignoring numerous complaints of safety violations.”
In his first interview with Good Morning America, when asked if he felt guilty over Halyna’s death, he said, “No. No. I feel that… someone is responsible for what happened and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me. Honest to God, if I felt that I was responsible, I might’ve killed myself if I thought that I was responsible. And I don’t say that lightly.”
