Terese Davis, who happened to be the costume professional on the set of ‘Rust’, has denied claims that there was an unsafe working environment.
The Costume Designer On ‘Rust’ Denies That Working Conditions Were Unsafe-‘I Am So Sick Of This Narrative’
Alec Baldwin’s gun prop incident has forever changed the way in which firearms will be looked at on movie sets. After all, he was under the impression that it was unloaded.
When it transpired that this was not the case, things were too late, as it led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the injury of director Joel Souza.
In response, there have been swathes of criticism emerging towards the way things were carried out on set. And yet, Terese denied the dangerous claims.
In a post on her social media, she remarked: “I am so sick of this narrative. I worked on this movie. The story being spun of us being overworked and surrounded by unsafe, chaotic conditions is bull***t.”
This begs the question, why was there such negligence if the crew were not being overworked? Well, that would have to boil down to what the authorities come up with.
But as for Terese, she spoke on how everyone had the energy in order to carry out their duties. In this way, the fault was not down to a burdening schedule. But rather, it was a case of an individual mistake.
She added: “We never worked more than a 12.5 hour shoot day. That was once…We had just had a 56 hour weekend right before that. No one was too tired to do their jobs. This is all provable by daily timesheets.”
Nevertheless, speculation continued to emerge that many of the crew had several promises broken. This included the idea that they had to drive a long distance away from the set every day for accommodation rather than being given a hotel.
Terese, though, defended the ‘Rust’ team by saying that suitable accommodation was given. She continued: “The camera crew HAD hotels. They just didn’t feel they were fancy enough.
“NOT that they were unsafe. You can’t tell me that six big men felt so unsafe in their hotel but were fine sleeping in their cars in parking lots (which never happened) like they also claimed.”
