Actress Diane Kruger has spoken about her early acting career in Hollywood during which she felt very uneasy.
Actress Diane Kruger Recalls Her Unpleasant Time On The Set Of Troy-‘I Felt Like Meat, Being Looked Up And Down’
The star, who just so happens to be a model, understands the pressures that can emerge with being in the public eye. And yet, when it came to her acting, she was totally taken aback by her experience on the set of ‘Troy.’
And given that she ended up playing Helen of Troy alongside Brad Pitt, there would have been a natural expectation of a celebration. However, it was anything but that as she outlined how the costume fitting for the role made her feel uncomfortable.
In an interview with Variety SXSW Studio, she said: “And I felt like meat, being looked up and down and was asked, ‘Why do you think you should be playing this?”
Diane did not go on to name the person that had made her feel like this, but sources claim that the head of Warner Bros at that time is no longer there. And yet, this is not the first time that Diane has been subjected to such treatment.
She expanded on how she has seen things within the modelling profession too. Although she has managed to continue plowing on with her career, there is no denying that it has stayed with her.
She added: “I think when I first started out, it just felt like, this is what it’s like. This is what Hollywood is like. Also, I come from modeling, and believe me, they have their moments.”
The response on social media was not very kind towards Diane. A subset of people felt that her behaviour was hypocritical, as if she really had some concerns, she could have easily walked away from the movie. One person wrote: “Not so uncomfortable that she wouldn’t take the check.”
Only Diane knows why she decided to stay on the film. But in light of everything that she has revealed, she is in a much better place to deal with something similar should it happen once again. And that can only be a good thing. So there you have it folks.
