ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal Sonny and Carly Corinthos (Maurice Bernard/Laura Wright) week continued Thursday. This particular entry was from October 14, 2015. It dealt with the wedding of Sonny and Carly. In yesterday’s episode, which originally aired a month before this one, they were to get married when tragedy struck. In today’s, we got to see a bit of a happy ending to their situation. Here’s what you need to know, and some first impressions from a newer fan.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sort of resolution
First off, we recently got to see an episode where Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) made Duke Lavery’s (Ian Buchanan) killer pay. She shot Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise), the murderer, in cold blood and was covered for by Kyle Sloane (Robb Derringer). We liked the dark turn Anna took there and wondered what might have happened next. Apparently, eventually a body surfaced (in this episode). The ID on it said it was Carlos, but reading more, it sounds like it was actually Sloane, and the body would later disappear. In this episode, that murder comes back to haunt her—and help Ava Jerome (Maura West).

It seems she was getting a lot of questions from Anna in this episode. Uncomfortable questions that neither she, nor Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi), want asked. So, he called Anna down to the scene to tell her about the discovery. The look on her face and the circumstances leading up to it make us think he used this to keep her off Ava’s back.

Meanwhile, we got to see a wedding delayed. As we mentioned, Sonny’s shooting was on his and Carly’s big day a month before. Now, he’s still in GH and they’ve decided the event must go on. A small wedding was arranged, and a young Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) helped get Carly ready for the big moment.
The ceremony was interesting, given that Benard recently officiated his daughter’s wedding. In the ceremony, the priest barely said a word. He started to, but then Sonny and Carly wanted this to move along quickly. They didn’t want an interruption to happen. So, they spoke personal vows, then said their own version of the ring exchange as well. Seriously, the only thing the priest did was pronounce them married at the end. That was probably more of the more unique ceremonies we’ve seen on the show, or ‘Days of Our Lives’ so far.
The ceremony also showed a lighter, more loving side to these two that we don’t always see these days. It seems they rarely get a moment anymore to be silly with each other, or even just affectionate. It’s always arguing over some issue, or supporting each other in crisis mode. Seeing a happy moment was nice, and we can’t help but be amused by a rich, powerful mobster talking about a possible Iowa honeymoon.

Overall, this episode just affirms our feelings about then vs. now. It was also interesting to see Ava in “face of the Jerome family” mode. At the same time, she showed just how intimidating Sonny can be, as she practically begged Paul not to be forced into any money laundering right now, as she was afraid of the potential impact on her custody battle with Sonny.
