ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal while there are very few people that would argue that Sonny Corinthos is a legend in the daytime television world, actor Maurice Benard says that it took a lot of work to get his character to where he is today. The ‘General Hospital’ star recently admitted that he uses a specific acting method in order to bring out the best – and sometimes even the worst – in Sonny. Here’s what you need to know.
The handsome actor told Soaps in Depth in a new interview, “When I played Nico on All My Children and Desi in ‘Lucy & Desi: Before The Laughter,’ I didn’t know what I was going. I didn’t have technique, but I had talent, emotions and instincts.” The actor says that’s when he decided to hire a coach that helped him train in Method Acting. This allows actors to use emotion-oriented techniques rather than action-based.

Maurice added, “I had an acting coach who humiliated me because he believed in me. When I got with this guy, he changed my acting completely. And when I got ‘General Hospital’, I was a whole different actor. I learned how to become another person.”
With that said, it’s without a doubt that ‘General Hospital’ fans certainly do appreciate all of the talents that Maurice Benard brings in front of the characters each and every day. After all, it’s one of the reasons why fans love him so much! In fact, many would agree that Port Charles simply wouldn’t be the same without Sonny Corinthos.
