ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal there’s a good reason for Soap Net to be a thing again. There are so many classic arcs, and those of us new to the show can’t exactly see these episodes in good quality. Recently, we saw a video that was taken from a Soap Net marathon celebrating General Hospital’s 50th anniversary. The episode just happened to be the first-ever. Let’s take a look back for #FlashbackFriday.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Plot
The episode mostly focused on a character named Angie Collins (Jana Taylor). She was in a terrible accident and seriously injured. General Hospital spoilers indicate she spent that first episode with her face covered in bandages. We loved seeing a new character. To us, anyway.
As for her story, it was mostly about her insecurities regarding the accident. She worried about being horribly disfigured, and how her love wouldn’t want her anymore. It seems superficial in a lot of ways, but it’s a great exploration of our inner demons. Who hasn’t had insecurity about their body, face, hair? It’s a sad situation. From what we see of the character description, however, it looks like everything worked out in the end. That shows us how almost any situation will pass, and we have to have a sense of calm and self-love in tough situations.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Complications
On the other hand, we have a side plot. This one centered on Dr. Steve Hardy (John Beradino) and his wife, Audrey March (Rachel Ames). Dr. Hardy was so focused on work, that dinner with his wife kept getting interrupted. She was clearly frustrated, showing there’s a lot of other drama to explore in these early episodes. Honestly, we think it would be a great thing if more DVDs were produced, or a streaming service opened so people to catch up on whatever eras they want to. So, what did we think overall of this look into the very beginnings of Port Charles?
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Our Thoughts
Honestly, it felt like a completely different show than today’s GH. General Hospital spoilers reveal the entire episode took place inside GH, unlike modern episodes that have outdoor shoots and mostly focus on action within the city. There was also no hint of organized crime or other over-the-top twists that we come to expect from soaps today.
It was a nice change of pace, seeing something that focused more on everyday situations. However, we see why the shift in so many soaps happened. We honestly don’t know if the show could have survived for decades with one or two settings. It would also get old when every plot is centered on a medical issue with similar work/life balance issues thrown in.
