In a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Aaron Rodgers clarified that his return to the Jets this season is not imminent, revealing that he is still approximately a month away from being fully healthy.

Despite working diligently to recover from a blown Achilles suffered on September 11, Rodgers emphasized that his body needs 3-to-4 more weeks to potentially reach 100 percent.

Acknowledging his desire to play if he were currently at full health, the 40-year-old quarterback indicated that he is now focusing on preparing for the 2024 season. The decision to return this season was contingent on both his health and the Jets’ playoff contention, neither of which materialized.

“Now without a timetable to come back obviously we can be as smart as we can be,” Rodgers explained to McAfee, “But this allows me to — I’m not going to slow my rehab down. I’m going to keep attacking it every single day, but now, without a timetable to come back, obviously, we can be as smart as we need to be.”

Addressing speculation about the upcoming season being his last, Rodgers dismissed the idea, stating, “I don’t think so.”

He attributed his move from Green Bay to New York for reigniting his passion for the game. “I feel like I can play more years and I can be effective into my 40s, which is crazy. I thought that I’d probably be sitting on the couch somewhere at 40, but now I want to be a starter at 40,” Rodgers said.

With a 5-9 record, the Jets will conclude their season without Rodgers, facing Washington, Cleveland, and New England.  Unfortunately in what was supposed to be a great year for the Jets, they were faced with injuries and couldn’t get going.

With Rodgers looking so adamantly at the future, is there a chance that the 41-year-old will be able to lead his team to an AFC championship game?
