Aaron Carter’s manager, Taylor Helgeson, has alleged that the singer was subjected to cyberbullying which took its toll on him.
Aaron Carter’s Manager Claims Cyberbullying Affected Him
Aaron, for his part, passed away at the age of 34 after the authorities found him in a bathtub. But prior to all of that happening, it was clear that something was not right with him. Taylor had previously admitted he had seen Aaron a week before his death in order to discuss working on a new album.
While that may have been the case, his physical health had deteriorated despite his optimism for working on new music. Much in the same way, his mental health had taken a hit due to the presence of extensive negative media scrutiny through social media.
In his comments, Taylor said: “It was like a nightmare. It was nonstop. It was so relentless and, yeah, it did a number on him.” Things did not get any better in that regard when we look at the circumstances surrounding Carter’s death.
While an official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, there were things that did get fans worried. According to reports, there were compressed air cans and pill bottles near him at the time of the death. This may indicate that there was an issue with substance abuse that will become clearer with time.
But for Taylor, it was the constant backlash that had an impact on Aaron. His following comments confirmed as much: “I wouldn’t go as far as to blame that entirely [for Carter’s death], but I watched that break him down over a long period of time. He never chose his life.”
The fans on social media lamented the timeline of events that led to his death. After all, this may have been avoided if there was an intervention. One person wrote: “So sad. And our youth have to deal with this more than we know.”
