Days of Our Lives spoilers: Election Day

It’s (finally) election day in Salem and hopefully the end of this political statement disguised as a storyline, where no character is coming off smelling like roses. But first, the characters have to deal with the long wait until the polls close.

Abe Carver (James Reynolds) is slightly nervous after that stunt Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) pulled, and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) doesn’t make things any easier. He approaches Abe to give him a piece of his mind, having just gotten off the phone with Valerie Grant (Vanessa Williams). We guess that whole mutual breakup thing isn’t so peaceful? Abe explains the situation, and Eli finally backs off a bit.

Eve is having some problems of her own, as JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) is also feeling a bit confrontational when she questions him publicizing his father’s past. JJ isn’t in the mood, as Jack has been using Hayley Chen (Thia Megia) as a pawn this whole time. We are also laughing at the irony of Eve calling JJ out for disclosing private information. You mean like #TeamJack has done when Jack broke JJ’s confidence? Again, no one is looking good here.

Jack is having a pretty bad day himself. No one will shake hands, or let him kiss their babies. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) also delivers a blow by refusing to sign the statement he brought her, citing it’s essentially an endorsement to try saving his campaign. She also says it minimizes what he did to her, and the years of work it took for her to find forgiveness.

Days of Our Lives spoilers: Something missed

We finally get back to the Will Horton (Chandler Massey) storyline, as he returns to the hospital for his latest scan results. He’s hopeful that the treatment has reduced the size of the tumor. Kayla ends up handling the news today, and it’s not good. The size hasn’t changed at all, which concerns Will. He doesn’t like how he’s having sudden outbursts and occasionally acting strange. Kayla has decided she wants to take more of a part in the case and promises that she’ll know Will’s case inside and out by end of day. This is a bit worrisome, as she is looking at his reports and says she can’t believe she missed this.

Back at Casa Kiriakis, Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) and Will are talking when Sonny mentions how they’re going to have to figure out what to tell Ari about the Holly situation. Will gives him a blank look and says he’s got no idea what Sonny is talking about.

Days of Our Lives spoilers: Busted

Related to the election, we have more of the twisted quartet of Hayley, JJ, Claire, and Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams). It starts at Casa Kiriakis, where Claire had gone off on Will and Sonny earlier for spying on her. Not that she has reasons to be paranoid, right? She was only burning Hayley’s photo. After they leave, JJ arrives with some treats for Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers), as he’s just learned about her loss. Claire takes the opportunity to try getting some action, but Tripp isn’t having it.

There’s the whole getting caught thing, obviously, but he’s got another problem right now. He’d found his half of the ripped wedding photo and confronts Claire about it. This leads to a fight about how hard this whole thing is on her and how offended she is that he’s suggesting she maybe needs help to deal with her emotions right now. He thinks that it’s unfair to keep her waiting, so he wants her to think about ending things now.

Later, Claire heads to the Salem Inn, where Jack and Eve have been trying to think of something to save Jack’s butt at the poll, she says she can help. While Jack leaves to cast his own vote, Eve and Claire discuss using the recording. We don’t get to hear exactly what Eve’s plan is, but Claire thinks it could work. However, she doesn’t want Tripp going down for this or knowing Claire was involved. We think she’s delusional to believe either is possible, but what can ya do?

Later on, Haley and JJ are getting some private time in a hospital room (Seriously? Neither of these couples is doing very well at this…). They’re talking about what they might be doing if Haley wasn’t trapped in her fake marriage (again, something talked about in the hospital, and she did it with Kayla, too). They’re looking pretty cozy when Eve walks in and plays the recording in front of them both. We’re smelling a blackmail plot. How this is going to help Claire, exactly, we don’t know. Maybe get Haley to take the fall so Tripp won’t be arrested for fraud?
